Ok, so today is Monday, August 23, 2021.

The most day that shows trademark filings on the TESS database maintained by the USPTO is last Wednesday, August 18. There have surely been filings since then, so the delay in a filing making its way to the online TESS database is currently 5 days.

On August 18, there were 22 trademark filings in the USPTO for Tennessee businesses.

Those 22 trademark filings show the following number of filings by businesses located in these Tennessee towns and cities:

  • Memphis – 1
  • Cordova -1
  • Spring Hill – 1
  • Lebanon – 1
  • Hermitage – 1
  • Franklin – 1
  • Chattanooga – 1
  • Sun Bright – 1
  • Columbia – 2
  • Nashville – 12

The most interesting trademark filing may be one of the trademark filings made by a Nashville applicant for the trademark, THE ASSASSINZS.

The applicant is John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny and June Carter Cash. The trademark filing is for a trademark in International Class 41. The description of services for this trademark filing is fairly lengthy, but the first part of that description is “live performances by a musical group.”

I did a quick Google search and found the song “Heart Made of Steel” by the Assassinzs on YouTube and took a listen. I like this song and so I’m looking forward to a live performance by the Assassinzs in the coming days.

Only in Tennessee (and Nashville, in particular) can you find such interesting trademark filings.
