Politico is reporting that in a head to head matchup, Obamacare is more unpopular than Romneycare. Based on a recent poll, 32% of voters said they were less likely to vote for President Obama because of Obamacare while only 14% of voters said that they were less likely to vote for Mitt Romney because of Romneycare. In the Politico story, it is also reported that a majority of voters believe that the individual mandate in Obamacare that requires all Americans to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional. What really matters, though, are the 9 Americans on the U.S. Supreme Court. If a majority of them think that Obamacare is unconstitutional, then that will really mean something. Until then, straw polls of the American people will be interesting, but won’t count for much in the final analysis. As for me, I believe the individual mandate is unconstitutional. I don’t get to vote, though. Only the 9 fellow Americans on the U.S. Supreme Court. We will know the answer to this whole issue later this year. Stay tuned.
