After practicing law since 1979, attorney Daniel P. Smith founded DPS Legal Counsel in 2011 in Brentwood, Tennessee, as a boutique tax and business law firm.
In 2015, DPS Legal Counsel opened a second office in Jackson, Tennessee.
DPS Legal Counsel is focused on solving problems and serving clients in 4 distinct niche areas of practice:
Physicians and other healthcare professionals – Transactional and regulatory healthcare problems for physicians and other providers (e.g., physician contracts, ambulatory surgery center issues, HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback Law).
Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Startups and Entrepreneurs – Business law problems and needs (e.g., organizational issues, business contracts, tax and business succession planning, Federal trademark protection, business disputes).
Taxpayers – IRS and other tax problems; proactive Federal and state tax planning.
Estates – Probate, estate administration, estate and life planning for families (e.g., wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, advance directives, living wills).
DPS Legal Counsel helps clients throughout Tennessee. With two offices–one near Nashville in the Cool Springs area of Brentwood and one in Jackson in West Tennessee-DPS Legal Counsel has positioned itself for the convenience for its clients throughout Tennessee.
In addition, because of the nature of Federal tax and Federal trademark practice (and the magic of modern technology), DPS Legal Counsel is able to work with clients throughout the United States on IRS or other Federal tax matters and on the Federal protection of trademarks for business clients.
